Clean and simple accommodation with views of the sea.
Jun 2020
Il Santuario di Soviore was a great home base for hiking in the Cinque Terre. The rooms are simple but clean, with views of the sea from high up above Monterosso al Mare. There is no aircon but up in the hills the air is fresh. I had dinner at the Santuario the night I stayed and the carb-filled menu was great fuel for hiking the next day.

Beautiful chapel
Oct 2019
Very beautiful little chapel in Monterosso! The exterior is unassuming, but once I opened the door, I was enthralled by the chandeliers, the floor and the altar. Plus, the sun was gleaming through the stained glass windows - so it was very impressive visually.

Medium to Heavy Intensity, but beautiful

We came to Cinque Terre for the wine and hiking and didn’t get to the hiking until our last day. This was well worth the effort. It is not an easy hike, in fact, it is a good hour of up-hill climbing but well worth the view once you get there. Wear good shoes and light clothes. I brought a camelback water bladder and towel because of the heavy humidity. It’s a beautiful hike with blackberries, small plumbs and wild pears along the trail. Well worth the effort.

Lovely small church
Jul 2019
It was refreshing to see such a small chapel with so much beauty and NO CROWDS after being in Florence at the Duomo. It is typically open during daytime hours. Sometimes there are people inside praying, sometimes it's completely empty. It's so pretty!

gem of a church
Apr 2019 • Friends
We hiked from Monterosso to Corniglia on the top route, this church is at the top of the very steep climb and it was lovely to stop, have a bit of a rest and admire this beautiful church. It looks like a normal church from outside, nothing too spectacular but when you get inside the church the decoration is wonderful.

Lovely church, but at this stage of our 30 day travels we were just about blessed out. Still a piece of history and beautiful to see.

A beautiful surprise
Jul 2017 • Couples
My wife and I backpacked throughout Northern Italy for a couple weeks. We took a train from Turino to Monterosso, grabbed a quick lunch and then ascended the 450 m mountain. The view from the top is beautiful and well worth the brutal hike. The historic church is open for visitors to enjoy before heading south along the top trail. This was one our favorite places through out our backpacking trip.

Amazing little church in Monterosso, Italy and the
Sep 2017
This little church : Santuario Nostra Sigora di Soviore (Holy Mary of Soviore) is on top of a hill above the village Monterosso. This church build around 740 and was serve as a stop over for pilgrims on their journey to Rome to rest and pray. The first restoration was done in 1738 , and again 1999. The church is located 450 meter above sea level and inhabitants of Monterosso had brought each stone up to the building place !! Soviore also hosts an beautiful restored organ (1834) from Pistoia on which regular concerts during summer is presented !! Apart from walking the Cinqueterre this church is worth a visit. Family accommodation next to the church , an excellent restaurant is also available , (we did not try the accommodation). Tip : The best months to walk the 5 Terre is late September. To find accommodation in this region needs booking long in advance , roads going down to Monterosso and the other 4 villages is difficult to travel in a short time... parking in this little villages is almost impossible. Planning this trip well is very important. We think the best is to depart from Firenze on an excursion. Or book in Monterosso 1 night and start the Cinqueterre trail.
