Doesn't cost much and is something to see if you are visiting the basilica. Has quite a bit of ancient Roman ruins and pieces. Not crowded and you can stroll leisurely.

I hadn't realised how important Aquileia was in the Roman era. This museum has superb remains of life when this city thrived. Well set out and explained on the inside with a mass of stone ruins outside. It again reminds us of how much the...More

Portraits of Palmyra in Aquileia marks a sympathetic step in ancient ruins destroyed. We are happy we saw the Roman ruins in photographs

A well laid out museum tracing the development and changes in the area from pre Roman times onward. Well signed in both Italian and English. The glass and other trade goods were excellent. Well worth a visit.

We just visited the place with our small daughter which means there wasn’t that much time to get through all the content. However, the 2 floor museum is well staffed and artifacts properly explained. The “ garden” demonstrates quite well that the main share of Romain...More

No visit to the historical centre of Aquileia is complete without time spent here. Even though it is only a small part of the Friulli region's collection of historic objects, the size and range of items on display is difficult to take in. A added...More

Exhibition comparing Palmyra and Aquileia was better. Likely we missed more spectacular parts of collection, and refurb shows...More
