This was so amazing that it is hard to effectively describe it! So much history and art work! Ceilings will keep your attention and the statues are so life like it is hard to believe they were made by human hands! I would highly recommend...More

The complex is very big so either leave the whole day for it or just skip to most important parts such as Rafael rooms, Sistine Chapel, map gallery...enjoy its breath taking beauty and splendour.

The Vatican museums were fantastic and worth seeing however was totally ruined by the tour groups and the amount of people they let in at once. You could hardly see/explore areas you would like to as you had to keep with the crowd. Also a...More

You can barely move let alone appreciate anything you see. I'm not a religious person so it was just a museum for me, but it was not an enjoyable experience at all. Save your time and money, use the internet.

So many works of art and so many splendid spaces..., not only a symbol of power but also the testimony of time and Roman and European history. A must, that deserves several sessions. If you only have one day, it is advisable to visit with...More

I know one of the Vatican Museum's chief attractions is the sheer abundance of incredible art in its gilded halls, but for myself, this was perhaps its greatest detraction. In particular, the Augustus of Prima Porta, a magnificent marble statue of Rome's first Imperial Emperor,...More

It’s all that and a bag of chips but the crowds are overwhelming (as a lot of other reviewers point out). I also visited it 26 years ago and the experience then was breathtaking (my cotravelers then said that i sucked all the oxygen out...More

Happy I got to see this amazing piece of history. Our guide was great. We went earlier and it was still crowded but manageable.

We toured the Vatican museum on our own after hiring a guide on our last trip. Get a guide for your first time but you can meander on your own as well. It is quite vast and impressive. It is housed in the former residences...More

We booked ours through the Get Your Guide App, they were the best for the price, plus we had booked the tickets for the Colosseum through it too.

The museum is right beside the basilica. But there’s a long procedure to get into the museum, through airport-style security and a tumult of people blocking corridors, stairways and escalators. So I would allow thirty... More
