Fontana del Moro is located on the southern side of the Navona Piazza. This is another art piece by Bernini. The schlpture of Moro is standing in a shell wrestling with a dolphin and surrounded by four Tritons. Impressive fountain recommended.

This fountain at the southern side of Piazza Navona is often overlooked by tourists. However, it is another masterpiece by Bernini. The sculptures are equally delicate as the other two.

This fountain is located at the South end of the plaza and, as with the Neptune Fountain, can be easily overlooked if the plaza is crowded. The fountain was erected in 1574 and renovated/restored in 1653 at which time the sculpture of 'il Moro' was...More

This fountain is located in the southern end of Piazza Navona. Moro means Moor, however the statue could be African also. He is surrounded by four Tritons, who is messenger of the sea in Greek and a son of Poseidon and Amphitrite.

This fountain of Moor is located at the south end of Piazza Navona. This beautiful fountain is commissioned in 1576 by Giacomo della Porta. When you are at Piazza Navona, worth seeing it.

A beautiful fountain (designed by Giacomo della Porta in 1576) that was not actually designed by Bernini (go figure), however he was responsible for redesigning the central figure (moor). We especially like the four tritons.

Fontana del Moro is one of three beautiful fountains in the Piazza Navona, a large and historic public square. It is meant, I think, to represent a Moor, or an African person, and he seems to be wrestling with a dolphin. Around the fountain are...More

This fountain fascinated me because of the tritons. At first I thought they were holding binoculars but water was coming out of them. Then I realized the tritons are blowing the water out. They might be conch shells based on mythology of the tritons. Apparently...More
