It can be a little overcrowded but is a good way to learn a few words in italian and try to repeat like "Scusa" or "Permiso"

Our hotel was close to a metro station. We purchases a 72 hour pass and used that in conjunction with hop on/off tours to get around. We still did a lot of walking. The metro can be crowded, but Every Roman we packed in with...More

I was staying in the outskirts of Rome and noticed a metro station close to my hotel. I decided to go to central Rome and I must say it was a pretty easy experience. There are self service machines at the station to get your...More

Great way to get around Rome. Be warned that this is a large tourist city and the subway system will be very busy at times. We had to wait for three different trains before we could squeeze into one and I do mean squeeze. This...More

There is a great way of getting round Rome; staff were OK but there are some old trains which are filthy and nasty and the newer trains which are really good and comfortable. You need to keep your eyes on your things at all times.

The Rome metro is a great way to visit some of the outstanding tourist sites in this city. There fast and efficient and although the carriages are a bit graffiti covered they get you to were you want to be much quicker than the trams...More

Compared to walking, metro provides a faster connection between tourist attractions in Rome. However, Chinese tourists may be the primary target of young lady pick-pocketers in the metro especially during peak hours 8-11am and 4-7pm. Watch out for those very young school age ladies with...More

One of the oldest metro systems we have seen across Europe and in desperate need of renovations and upgrades. The stations look run-down, dark and dirty, full of graffiti, while the trains themselves are just as bad and look very old. A number of the...More
