Great experience

I am not very into arts but I was really impressed with this place. It’s a nice place to spend some time. I was especially impressed by Bernini sculptures.
If you buy online tickets, don’t forget to drop big handbags and backpacks next to the ticket centre before you enter the Gallery

Marvellous gallery for both sculpture and painting
Dec 2021
Bernini sculptures, paintings from a number of artists and the gallery itself; all worthwhile.

Yes, they are checking for COVID vaccinations, but so is everyone else in Italy.

The museum has an excellent audio tour, it takes about two hours which is the length of your ticket. We could have spent more time however two hours was fine.

Truly the staff from hell
Nov 2021 • Friends
Rome I visit regularly. I was with a dear friend who has never been. I booked tickets as it seems the gallery was closing this week. To see the beautiful house and artwork truly a wonderful occasion when in Rome. But such disorder. For some reason all visitors must leave bags at a weird shed depository. Poorly staffed. Chaotic. And not safe looking. Gruff rude staff. Even more anal and petty during Covid times. Sure the house not big. Then why oh why overcrowd with visitors?? Why allow endless private filming of videos selfies Why let people just plonk themselves in doorways passage etc. In such times really not safe. And the sheer paranoia of the staff on the entry ref this green pass/ Covid certificate. I was asked to chant out my dob at the desk ??! So humiliating and uncalled for. No overseas visitors can enter Italy without this pass. Or a nasal swab. Then you are told, and really not nicely to leave all your belongings and money at an unsafe mostly unmanned bag stop. The whole gallery was extremely overcrowded. Taking your breath away really. No exits marked. No emergency exit visualised. Only interjection from staff was mask watching. They sat and watched people being pushed excluded and almost barred from certain rooms ref endless selfie sticks videos etc etc etc. I’m not certain if this is a national gallery. It truly is one of the best galleries to see in the world. However it needs a true overhaul ref visiting policy. Also staff need re educating ref welcoming people. A coherent policy on entry. Possibly no photos like at the Vatican. And some kindness towards the visitors who are actually paying their wages. Maybe proper lockers. Or a safe place for bags which is manned by decent staff. And safe. This is people’s passports. Money. Debit cards etc. The artwork there is magnificent. Make the experience the same. The woman truly humiliated me. I felt dreadful. Still do.

Incredible Art
Oct 2021
Requires a pre-booking during Covid. The art pieces are superb including sculptures, paintings (6 Caravaggio's) and the ceilings which are really the best painted ceiling anywhere outside of the Sistine. In the interest of being inclusive they have marred the rooms by including modern art pieces by Hirst(?) that relate to the historical pieces. To us the modern pieces just showed how much better the classical artists were at their art. Note that the 2 hour time limit is strictly enforced.

I've been dying to return to this museum since my first visit as a teenager 40 years ago. It is as lovely now as it was then. If you love Bernini, you will love the Galleria Borghese. The park is also one of the cleanest areas of Rome.

Art and history in a palatial setting
Oct 2021
An incredible collection of paintings and sculptures focusing on Italian artists, predominantly Bernini. Bathrooms were very clean which is important during COVID times . No overwhelming crowds as in pre COVID . Contemporary English artist, Damien Hirst, pieces complemented many 17 th and 18th century, classical sculptures and paintings and those of the counter reformation era by Caravaggio . This museum takes several visits. Pace yourself

Being in Rome you have to visit it.
Sep 2021
Being in Rome you have to visit it. The visiting time is limited to two hours, that's why I recommend visiting the gallery twice during one visit. The first time it should be more general and the second time you should choose the artworks that interest you the most and devote longer time to them.
