This is a free museum and that more than makes it worthwhile. But as you explore this museum and think about the history of Rome, you also get a great view of Piramide Cestia which stands just across the street. You might ignore this building...More

It's free entrance and just across the Pyramid. There is a fantastic view of the square, Roman walls and the pyramid. It's quite small, would take half an hour to visit. Some paintings and sculptures.

So we made the journey by foot to see the pyramid and this was right next door. It is a beautiful site, but that's about it. You can not enter the graveyard or castle, but it has this amazing large door, with a smaller door in...More

I hate to give a museum - particularly a free museum - a poor rating. However, besides a nice view from the higher level, this museum offers very little. It could be so much more educational and interactive. As for the Ostian Way, you get...More

So we technically didn't visit Porta San Paolo or the Museo. But we saw it from across the street, and it is a sight to behold! It seemed that many watchtowers we saw were square like you see on forts but these ones are circular...More

Part of the Aurelian Wall, located in Ostiense near the Pyramid Cestia. The remaining parts of the wall and gate, complete with castle-like turrets is a surprising feature of Rome.

This is a tiny, almost forgotten, museum, located in St. Paul's gate (part of the ancient Aurelian wall). While it'll probably take you only 5 minutes to go through the tiny museum, the best feature of the place is its stunning rooftop vantage point of...More

This castle caught my attention once out of the metro station. I do not have a chance to enter the "castle" as it was closed. It is a small monument in the middle of the road.
