Perhaps the best-preserved of the monuments of ancient Rome, this huge marble structure was built to hold more than 50,000 spectators to witness bloody contests of might and the slaughter of wild beasts.

A must see site that lived up to expectations. The queues are long even with advance tickets so take plenty of water. I bought the radio tour which was great, not too long or invasive.

Incredible to walk around, especially when lit. Take the tour but can be crowded and hot but interesting.

The Colosseum is well worth visiting but be sure to make the time to go inside. The queues can be very long so it is better to pre book online if you can.

Where ancient history, buildings and atmosphere meets the modern man made world .. Go early, bring a sun hat and cold water. It's an incredible experience!

We booked a night time tour with Italy Experiences. It was brilliant. It was easy to find our guide, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The colosseim was closed except for groups so you got a really good look around. It is beautiful at night. I...More

Loved seeing the colosseum at night. It was spectacular and I would recommend seeing it after hours to avoid all the crowds!

A must see attraction in Rome. We skipped the guide and had a good look around by ourselves! So much history in one city - we walked miles!

We got there around 9am and joined the queue. We waited about 45 minutes, most of them in the shade thankfully. We purchased an audio guide however we couldn't find the area's very easily and gave up eventually. It was crowded but not overly so.There...More

Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighbourhood just
west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as
it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet

quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its
cobblestone streets. The neighbourhood supports unique

Hi, we would like to buy a timed entrance or on-line ticket (skipping ticket booth lines altogether). I went to the coop culture site and when I was going to purchase our 4 tickets it said " withdrawal at the checkout will receive an e-mail address you provided with your booking confirmation and the code to be shown at the ticket office where you can pick up your tickets", which leads me to believe I'll be in a line with my code to get my ticket, and then another line to show my ticket, and then head through security. Is that how you see it? Is there a recommendation for a website to get an on-line ticket printed that I can take with me (without a tour guide--we'll use the audioguide when we get there). I feel like this is a redundant question, but I just don't see an obvious website for timed entries that don't include a tour guide. Thanks so much for your help, TripAdvisor contributors are patient and helpful... I appreciate it!
