This is a great place to visit while in Rome. We took a guided tour that walked though the ancient ruins. We were amazed at how close you can get to many of the ruins. No shade, so make sure you prepare for the sun.

To walk where it all began helped getting a sense of how the empire started & give a better feel for the city layout.

I was amazed that you can walk through the ruins - that they aren't more protected. Its very hot and very little shade, so take a hat and water. We had a guided tour which helped a lot.

Wonderful views of Ancient Rome, below . This was the Beverly Hills neighborhood for important Roman leaders. The ruins of the emperors’ estates are something to see. It is worth climbing the hill!

We just did the 3.5hour Roman Guy tour. It starts at the Roman Forum then Palatine Hill then the Colosseum including the underground access. The guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was well run. Have fun.
