Context provides an in-depth alternative to traditional tours. Context's Rome walking seminars are an alternative to typical guided tours. With over 50 different walks led by Ph.D. or MA-level scholars, and with the smallest group size available—only six people. Context is much more than a walking tour of Rome.

Our party of 5 enjoyed three Context Tours while in Rome and all were excellent. A Bike Race - which nobody told us about - though a swath of the city nearly cancelled one of the tours (Jewish Ghetto), but our Guide, Dony, expertly navigated...More

We took 2 tours with Context while in Rome. Both were excellent because they are led by people with deep understanding of their subject matter. However, they are not pedantic. You will get as much (or as little) information as you want while being accompanied...More

we went on 2 great small group tours with Olivia and Dony as docents. they were awesome. we wish we had done Vatican with context instead of a large group with viatour which was adequate, but context was great

We have taken a number of Context Rome tours, some more than once because you learn so much. The Borghese Gallery docents in particular have been excellent. Our latest walking tour was on the Unification of Italy. It sounds specialized but we learned so much...More

We are interested in the arts and history. We went on three Context tours in Rome on relatively specific topics as opposed to a highlights tour. Our tour leaders were all professionals in the topic and in the business of being tour guides. The presentations...More

We took several Context walks while we were in Rome this trip and, as usual, they were extraordinary. We use them whenever we are in a large European city and they have never disappointed us. They are always prepared and friendly and they always have...More

We had a fantastic tour (again) with Context. Our guide, Liz, was very knowledgeable, and the depth of her expertise was matched by her enthusiasm for and engagement with the history she was showing us. We have been to the Colosseum and the Forum before,...More

We had a great tour the Vatican City yesterday. We were in a group of six so a very manageable size. Our tour guide was exceptional and knew so much about the place. She took us through a virtual tour first using the screens in...More

We did two tours with Context: Rome Antica, and the Vatican. Both were excellent. The docent was incredibly knowledgeable, not just in the topics of the tour but also helpful about Italy and Rome more generally. We did tours with various companies, and the Context...More
