While planning our Mediterranean cruise I realized that Naples would be our port of call on Easter Sunday.Looking for an English speaker church, I found the Christ Church Naples web site and contacted them for information on their Easter Sunday services. Rev. Jon Blackhouse got right back to me with the information. I'm glad we found them, we were warmly greeted by the parishioners. Before the service started Rev. Jon also took the time to greet us. We enjoyed both the message by Rev. Jon and the song and music by the Worship Team. It was very similar to what we were accustomed to, we actually recognized almost all the songs, and even the ones we didn't know we sang along with them. We also enjoyed the Easter Sunday skit, especially the children participation in the skit. After the service we were invited to the "bring and share" lunch. Fortunately we knew about this and brought Macadamia Shortbread cookies from Hawaii which they enjoyed. Being it was Easter Sunday, we chose to forego the excursion to Pompeii and celebrate the resurrection of our King with a friendly and welcoming church family.

It had been two years since I was last in Naples, and had attended this church for a couple of services. This time I was only here for the one Sunday, so took the opportunity to come to the 1030 service. The congregation included families and single people from perhaps a dozen different nationalities, and included a number of children – it was a joy to to see them there. There is a Sunday school which children can attend - the children start off in the main service; go off to their group shortly after the beginning; and return in time for communion. After church there is coffee in the grounds, then many of the church members meet up in the Triclinium restaurant just up the road, to enjoy lunch in each other’s company. I hope to be in Naples again before too long, and will make sure that I enjoy this friendly and welcoming congregation again.

I was in Naples for just one week, and was delighted to find a warm welcome from this friendly and multinational congregation. The service is in English, but plenty of Italians as well as many other nationalities seem to value the combination of well planned liturgy, a mix of old and new hymns, and helpful sermon. There was an informal and relaxed atmosphere before the service and at coffee afterwards. The chaplain and his wife, and indeed everyone I met, were very hospitable.

I lived in Naples for three months and found this church my first week there. I was warmly welcomed even thought it was a small amount of people. The next month Carole and Jon Backhouse came from England to lead the church. They were friendly and full of idea to grow the church. By the time I left I noticed many more people attending. It's an historic church in a nice area of Naples and surrounded by apartment buildings. They're doing some fund raising to repair the roof and to fill other needs. I am not Episcopal/Anglican but I felt so at home here.

A lovely church, which is in a pretty building, but that is outshone by the welcome that you'll receive. I recommend sticking around at the end and having a chat, even if you're just visiting. Lots of lovely people!
