When we found the museum it was well worth well worth a visit for art history buffs but avoid Tuesdays - they're closed! Allow at least half a day.

A suggestion: Arrive at opening (9 AM) and avoid the crowds, plus the benefit of any photos being taken without people around the exhibits. Note that it is closed on Mondays. This building is huge, and allows for the display of magnificent pieces without crowding....More

Arrive early or late to avoid tour groups and leave enough time to circulate. The sculptures in the entry court are marvelous and the mosaics are simply exquisite. We just strolled and enjoyed it as a superb art gallery.

The museum has loads of interesting statues and frescoes. We took a one hour English speaking guided tour (€10) which proved worthwhile.

We used the audio guides for 5 euros and the entrance was 13 euros
