To wander through a previous cave palace and to view the sculptures and photos was a wired but interesting experience. Positioning of sculptures within the cave structure was innovative. A change from normal museum/ galleries.

Extraordinary sculpture museum in the old city of Matera - well worth the visit. The museum has many display areas, and pictures of the artists are included in each room, making the exhibit that much more interesting.

Loved this museum as so unusual. Sculptures in cave dwellings really atmospheric. Never been anywhere like it and you must visit whilst you are in Matera! Really interesting collection of work.

Not a bad thing to do, with some interesting sculptures (though I didn't recognise the names of the artists). Some of the settings for the sculptures, in the caves, are pretty cool. Not a must-see, I think, but if you have the time, certainly not...More

Do not miss this museum. We had a hard time finding it and almost gave up. I'm so glad we didn't. We love contemporary art and classic architecture. The amalgamation of the two here at MUSMA is extraordinary. We had the museum mostly to ourselves,...More

We only had 20 minutes before closing but were able to view most sculptures. We did not find this a highlight of Matera.
