Parque Monte del Castro is a free park surrounding the Fortress in Vigo Spain. After visiting the fort, you can stroll down and take your time. Taking a taxi to the fort and then walking down is recommended unless you really like hiking and want...More
Went as part of a coach tour. The steps to the view on the left were definitely hard to get up and even harder to get down. However the view you get is well worth the effort, particularly on a blue sky day. This stop...More
Monte del Castro is just one of many things to see in Vigo but is well worth the climb. It’s not that strenuous really and you can take a cab. But if you ave a sense of history the climb up lets your imagination wander...More
It's a long walk uphill, but worth it. Beautiful views of Vigo when you get to the top. It was nice to walk around and enjoy the fresh breeze. If you are too tired to walk down, ask the cafe to call you a taxi...More

Monte del Castro is a park centred on the peak of a steep hill - from base to top a good half hour if you are moderately fit. Actually not that scenic either. Vigo seems more of a working city than for non-native day tourists. There is a maritime museum, but it is a long way from the station, albeit it is then close to a nice promenade. Just walking the streets was interesting - we walked and even worked out some bus routes. There is a shellfish area just up from the port - entertaining.
