Unfortunately this wonderful monument is closed to the public, but you can get some idea of how wonderful it will be when the work is finished. There are very helpful information boards about the project.

I have been going to Santiago for many years so I have put my hand in a strange carving in a marble pillar and knocked my head on Maestro Mateos head, these were things that I was not aware of but was told to do...More

We thought we were going to see way more than it was. We were fooled by the long line I think! We waited in 90 degree blazing sun for an hour an a half and then had to keep waiting another half hour once we...More

This Romanesque masterpiece has just been cleaned and renovated. It is indeed heavenly and the 15 minutes allowed per visit can not do it justice. It is controlled access to about 50 people batches. Which means a huge waiting line outside under full sun and...More

This entrance is being renovated in anticipation of next year's holy year celebrations. Lots of dust and construction. Use another door to enter the cathedral.

I was looking forward to seeing this but it was under repair at the time of our visit. You can see around the scaffolding to get a bit of an idea of how attractive it will be once restored.
