This fascinating area is steeped in history, with city hall located in the same spot where kings once reigned. You'll find narrow streets and squares here, with Gothic mansions, museums, historic churches, bars and restaurants. The Placa del Rei is reputedly the place where King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella welcomed Columbus after his voyage to America.

Beautiful medieval streets, Picasso museum, MEAM museum with its delightful jazz concerts, quirky little shops and bars, guitar music wafting through the air.

My travel agent chose this hotel as it was advertised as wheelchair accessible. It isn't. The breakfast was also very disappointing. On a positive it is close to La Rambla and a metro station. The Jacuzzi on the roof is good if you are able...More

Streets around the old palace and besides the cathedral, this place must be visited accompanied by a local guide.

As in all cities, there is an old neighborhood, and Barcelona is very beautiful. It is worth walking through its streets enjoying the views of the old buildings, and the architecture.

This is the old town or 'Gothic Quarter' of Barcelona. It is a wonderful maze of tiny streets where you'll find little shops, tapas bars and restaurants. Every now and again the lanes will open out onto a little square, and you'll also find the...More

Have a great time getting lost in the old town, it's great fun just wandering around. Pay attention to your stuff, there are pickpockets, but enjoy!

Usually refered to as Gotico, the twisting stone paved narrow streets and small bright placas that are old Barcelona. Wander about and have a tourist map with you. Some shopping and sit about cafes, but many old tall buildings of charm and character. Mainly pedestrianised...More
