Valladolid & Wine tasting in a Ribera del Duero winery - From Madrid

google
We will visit the Plaza de San Pablo, one of the best known squares in Valladolid. Its name is from the church of San Pablo, it is believed that its construction was between the years 1445 and 1468.<br>Then we will go to Ribera del Duro, when we arrive we will visit Curiel Castle which stands on a rocky hill, at the highest point in the province of Valladolid, which watches over the Douro Valley and, at the foot of the hill, the town that gives its name to the castle. The castle stands on a hill next to the Horcajo stream, which discharges into the Douro. We will finish the tour with a visit to the Protos Winery, carried out by Rogers Stirk Harbor + Partners, it is an industrial project where the winemaking process is seen, from the grape harvest to the bottling of the wines. Most of the internal space of the winery is underground, here the thermal mass of the soil is used to keep the wine fresh.

The good thing about this fantastic place is that it has not changed much, at least in the last 60 -70 years. The main change is the park is no longer what it was in terms of the gathering place "per excellence' to socialize, meet other people and , f you were a teenager, try to meet your future 'sweet heart". But you can still feel the magic of this park designed in a way that has nothing to do with modern styles. And yes, the peacocks, the ducks, and the birds and doves are still there, in the same areas. You can feel a drop in temperature at at least 3 - 4 C as soon as you enter the park. because of its many trees and plants, and the small lake and "river". Some things have been changed, perhaps because the old ones needed repair, like the pergola area, and this renovation could have been dome better, in line with the original design. So, get a book, or a newspaper or some music and spend time here. Bring the phone for one thing only: to take pictures. Forget the calls and the messages. And it is free.
