I read some reviews before visiting: that is small and underwhelming. León peaked around the late s.XI... it is small but has outstanding monuments, the Cathedral, San Isidoro in the old town or San Marcos by the river. The Plaza Mayor is really lovely and...More

The historic centre is interesting and lively with plenty of restaurants and cafes. It's a living city too with all the normal facilities, not a museum. Wandered round all day and still found little streets I hadn't seen that evening. I plan on going back...More

Just wandering through the narrow streets, one discovery after the other. Not only the highlights and the landmarks, but also the little things. What is there not to like about the historic city?

A down, not too big, mits of walking areas, mits of history. A romantic and a moist quarter. Will come again!

The historic section of Leon has a range of beautifully restored buildings, huge numbers of restaurants and bars, and some iconic world class buildings such as the Cathedral. In typical Spanish style, it wakes slowly but parties late, with Thursday, Friday And Saturday nights absolutely...More

Clean and well ordered with a plethora of sites & sights. Really only visited for The Cathedral but spent an extra hour walking, sightseeing and taking photos. On the flat which is a Godsend. Pleasant Visitor Information Centre.

Except for one or two streets, we were rather underwhelmed by our visit to León. There are many boarded up or closed shops with graffiti everywhere and a general feeling that not enough money is being spent on maintaining the historical fabric of the old...More

This city is chock full of churches, museums, Gaudi architecture, quaint cafes, narrow streets, shops and restaurants and lovely parks. Great for strolling, window shopping and people watching. Nice to see that locals live, work and play here so not just a place for tourists.

We toured the historic centre as we were keen to see if the actuality lived up to the hype. We did leave slightly disappointed as we are not sure the hype was fulfilled.
