This is about a 15 minute walk from the old town, either a pleasant walk along the river, or a nice walk through late 1800 and early 1900 buildings. This convent has a very long and nice front, well worth seeing just this. The parador...More

A 15' walk just to see the (still impressive) front. We obviously didnot prepare enough. No more Parador either, where we wanted to do a nice lunch. Have to come back in a couple of years time ...

Very nice antique building it was an ancien convent and later on a pilgrim hospice; today it's a splendid large parador, I visited the restaurant of the parador and it was very impressive, to recommend.

This building is also a parador, or government run hotel. It is truly a very impressive structure and retains much of the historical appearance it had in centuries. The church and cloister are very nice. Parts of the building are for guests only, so visitors...More

Located close to the river and picturesque old medevial bridge, San Marco monastery is worth of even a short visit. See inside patio with cypruses and arches of second floor gallery, main alter, great ceiling arches. A real masterpiece of arcitecture in Leon!!!

This place almost dissapeared so the fact that it's still intact is amazing when you see get to see it and learning the rich history behind it.

We were fortunate enough to stay in this building which began life as a place of rest for pilgrims on the Santiago de Compostela trail. As well as delux accommodation, the building has well-preserved cloisters and many remnants of its previous religious life.
