This muralla is still standing in all its glory. It has been cleaned and electric stairs placed to be able to go up to the old city easily.

The City Walls of Toledo may not be as grand as those of Avila but, I guess, that is a subjective notion. The first walls were constructed by the Romans, some remnants still exist. The Visigoths rebuilt the walls from the ruins of the old...More

The city walls and gates are superb and extremely well-maintained. A reminder of how cities had to protect themselves in days gone by.

We did not walk the walls but they are the perfect frame for the picture that is Toledo. You can view them from several overlooks around the city.

You must check this out and walk the walls when in Toledo. A great way to get some additional exercise when in Toledo. Very interesting to say the least.

Toledo is an utter gem and the ancient walls that surround the old town on its hill are a big part if it's charm. You can climb and walk along parts of them or walk under the many arches and the views of the surrounding...More

You cannot visit Toledo and not walk around its walls (if you're fit enough of course). It really shows you how well fortified this city was and you can imagine the difficulty the 'enemies' had to try and take it over. Impossible!

The well preserved walls of Toledo are quite impressive for their blend of Roman, Moorish and medieval architectural elements. The many gates make them even more interesting. The fact that they are so well preserved just adds to their importance. Note the pretty pocket parks.

Toledo's wall is massive, and partly 2,000 years old. Built by the Romans, and enhanced by the Moors, this wall certainly served its purpose! (to keep the bad guys out ;-) Large parts are still intact, so you can walk around a long stretch around...More

Toledo was walled by Romans, and a lot of its stones were reused later in built walls, as the original perimeter was subsequently tripled. The Arabs widened the city and the walls. It's stunning to behold the walls... and make your way inside and explore...More
