All Plaza Mayor seem to be totally different! This one is quite large and they were getting it set up for Holy Week (semana santa) Celebrations when we were there, so there was a lot of heras fencing in evidence and access was somewhat limited....More

The plaza mayor crown jewel is Helados Moran however there are plenty of shops, restaurants, a water fountain, government building and clock. You can enjoy the small town city life conversing with locals while drinking a cold beer and enjoying patatas bravas tapas.
Some of the tapas bars in Plaza Mayor were fantastic and had decent service. Essentially no one in Ciudad Real speaks much if any english and overall in the city service is pretty poor and few make any attempt to know even a few english...More
