As part of our visit to Puerto De la Cruz we spent some time here taking in the scenery and people watching. It's an easy stroll along the front and plenty to see and do. The shops behind are good and there are nice gardens too.

Good place to sit and relax and watch the people out on the sea riding the big waves, which there are plenty. It would not be a good place to take little children as the sea is very rough and the waves are strong. There is a small beach but far better to sit on the promenade and look from there. Large hotels behind and this is the start of the promenade walk which would bring you all the way to the harbour and town centre. Bars and cafes all the way along.

I've never stayed on a black beach. And was a surprising feeling for me, living on Majorca, and habituated to white sand...Be careful with water: is so strong. This is not Mediterranean Sea. Local people told me that one of the most common beach accidents is people who wants to swim near the rocks and finally are driven towards them by the wave force.
But is a paradise for beginner surfers: two/three meters waves are usual there. A lot of surf shops are nearby. Also bars and some english "pubs".

This is a lovely black sand beach right outside the H10 Tenerfir Playa. There is a surf school on the beach, so there is plenty of rollers on which to practise. I would say this beach is not suitable for young children, it is however popular for sunbathing, but there were no sunbeds or umbrellas available to hire. Being at the end/beginning of the promenade it is a popular place to rest and watch the surfers and the rollers break over the breakwater.

A well laid out, walkable sea front containing lovely restaurants, cafes and shops with good views out to sea where you could sea surfers waiting the waves. Also had big lido with various sized pools, sun loungers food which, I believe, were at a reasonable price and ideal if children were with you because it was in an enclosed area which looked clean and tidy.

A good place to surf, but we found it difficult to get in for a swim in bare feet, the small pebbles roll around under your feet in the surf and are painful. There is quite a drag on the tide too, so it's tricky to get out again! Lovely place to sit with an ice cream and watch the surfers though.

Lovely views along the coast. Much of it catches the waves but there are sheltered areas and people do swim there. Saves the long walk to the big beach with lifeguards.

This large beach of black volcanic sand sits at the end of the long sea front and is popular with surfers. There is adequate seating for those who wish to watch the waves and the surfers in action

Although it has been developed a bit this is the original beach for PDLC.
First came here in 1973 before the Costa Martianez was created. The black Sands are a feature of Tenerife and especially here.
The waters can be dangerous in the North to swim in. There is a lifeguard here to help protect swimmers. This beach is free and surrounded by a rocky outcrop. There is a surf school next to the beach along with a nice restaurant.
The entrance to Costa Martianez is next door so if you want more facilities it's 5 euro to get in.

Hi guys is it ok to take beer on the beach? Is there any places to enter the sea where there is no rocks.
Many thanks in advance 👍

As long as you're discreet, no-one normally minds if you have a beer on the beach as, say, part of a picnic. In the street and city squares etc., it's different. Officially, Spanish law forbids 'botellones', i.e. impromptu booze sessions in public spaces.
The centre of the beach has a less rocky and more gravelly waterline, but it's advisable to wear slip-on neoprene beach/swimming shoes with soles.

Mi dispiace Antonio, la spiaggia di cui parlo
Io non è nel centro storico ma al finale della avenida Colon, strada pedonale.Io vivo a Tenerife ed il centro storico è vicino al porto.
