Small local museum
Sep 2020
This is a small (4 rooms) museum offering an introduction to La Gomera and its archaeology. It is attractive and informative and costs 2 euros a person - and will keep you busy for 30 minutes max.

Interesting introduction to the history of La Gomera
Nov 2019
This was a really interesting small museum that gives a good introduction to the history of La Gomera. It is next to the church.

Simple but infromative
Feb 2019 • Couples
Simple but informative museum about the culture of native gomerans (still in stone age until the conquest by the Spaniards).

Small but very interesting
Nov 2018 • Family
After visiting the central church we noticed the sign to the local archaeological museum. For a small charge there were various rooms dedicated to the original inhabitants of La Gomera, their lifestyles, living conditions, diet, religion, medical complaints etc, Very well laid out and a nice way to spend an hour or two while the locals enjoy their siesta.

Very well presented
Sep 2018 • Family
A good overview of the origins and lifestyle of the original inhabitants of La Gomera is presented in this delightful old house next to the main church in San Sebastián. Clearly the result of a dedicated team of archaeologists, it does this proud and beautiful island credit. Worth a visit.

Great little museum - full of information
Jan 2018 • Solo
..... and free too. It’s not big - you can look round it in 45 minutes or less - but it’s full of lots of information in Spanish and in English about life on La Gomera over the past 2500 years, the islanders’ customs and social organisation, clothing, diet, their health, their houses, their livestock and more - including a good but small audio-visual demonstration of Siblo, the Gomerans’ unique whistling language which now has World Heritage status with UNESCO. As you’ll find out, significant archaeological explorations only started on the island in the late 20th century so there’s much that’s as yet undiscovered. If you want more detailed information there’s also a resident archaeologist who does guided tours of the museum, though these do need organising 24-48 hours in advance. A lovely little place with very keen and friendly staff.

Nothing much to see
Oct 2017 • Couples
This is a nice old building in a central position but other than information boards with pictures there is nothing much to see. the island is full of history so it would have been nice to have seen part of it in real life objects even if these were simple every day items.

Made my trip !
Dec 2016 • Solo
Although I'd been to the Canaries before, it was only when I came here that I began to find out anything about the background and history of the islands. It's brilliant - really thought provoking. OK, some of things I learned through talking with one of the archaeologists, but the displays are good too. And there is an interactive exhibit on the whistling !
