Very dark...

The exterior of the cathedral is impressive, especially when illuminated at night. The inside is elaborately decorated in very intense, dark colors. For us, the overall effect was depressing.

Try the lift to The Tower!

Beautiful inside and out. Situated by the River Ebro. Free to go in, but 3 Euros to go up the tower in the lift, but well worth it for the view!

World class basilica

With Hoya paintings, this large basilica is a must see in Zaragoza. The plaza in front of it is impressive and its and easy walk down the shopping Avenue to the El Tubo tapas area. Take the elevator ride up the tower

Impresive, but bigger than better

There are many Basilicas in the world. This doesn’t make top 10 but still worth a visit. It lacks details and particulars, not sure if you know what I mean. It feels dull, flat, imperfect, something is missing. The colored roofs don’t make it any...More

Underwhelming

Had great expectations of visiting the basilica and would have been more than happy to pay a fee in lieu of information of the history. (Think they’ve missed a trick here). All over the place were posters advising no photos to be taken no back...More

Must see

One of the few nice cathedrals in Spain, still in use that makes it special. Shame to skipp if you are around

In winter, I entered the basilica at 8.45am but the gift shop is still closed. Bells are rung at 9am. We could still visit at 8pm after dinner.

10 PM is early in Zaragoza! The lights should be going strong when you arrive. Just take a bus or taxi to the Puente de Piedra (the bridge close by), and you should get great photos.
