Amazing restoration, especially as it explains how the original was built over. Good balance of information and walk around, properly embedded within the city structure.

Scale is huge, you can imagine yourself either as a spectator or actor (depending on your preference!) Cafe inside so can spend plenty of time there.

One of the four major Roman sites in the old town centre; each within easy walking distance of the others. The entrance cost can be reduced by buying a ticket for all four sites, or by being over 65 years, in which case it’s free. Remarkable! This huge and astonishing theatre was only discovered ‘by accident’ relatively recently. A small information centre provides exhibits and excellent explanations in English, French and Spanish.
A pathway takes you around and through the theatre, Some steps. A small cafe on site.

This place just blew our minds. The remains of the amphitheatre are just amazing. The indoor part of the museum is also lovely and we watched a film in Spanish with English subtitles.

EUR 4 to enter. One of the largest theaters in Roman Hispania with capacity for more than 6,000 people and the largest in Spain discovered to date. There were several interesting features inside the museum but I was mainly awed by the theater itself and the state of its preservation. Was very glad that it was possible to walk among the ruins and see it from various angles.

Roman ruins and museum showcase a cool discovery inside Zaragoza. A good portion of the museum was Spanish only which made it difficult for us. If you love Roman ruins this is a great spot for you.

It seems incredible that the Roman theatre of Zaragoza was only discovered in the 1970´s having been buried under urban development after the fall of the Roman empire. This museum displays the remains of the theatre and in the museum traces the history of the site under Moorish and then Jewish residential areas. This is all very interesting and although the theatre is in ruins, the museum displays bring it to life.

Not expensive to go in but you can see the theatre from several spots outside. What a great find. Worth a look. Still amazed how these were built all around Europe all these years ago.
