A lot of history
Jun 2019
We were glad we visited the Casa de Sefarad. It is a historically and culturally significant place. It is not very large but it contains enough objects on display and information to give the visitor a good idea of the history of the Jewish people of Spain. There are some moving stories and some quite interesting bits of information. It is a very worthwhile place to visit.

A must see for anybody interested in the Sephardic Jewish experience
Feb 2020
Very well arranged museum, with a lot of interesting exhibits depicting the life and times of the ancient Jewish community in Spain and its often outstanding rabbinical and other leaders until its expulsion in 1492. The story continues after that, however, as there still were many important personalities with Jewish backgrounds leaving their mark in Spain and beyond.

Dear friend, thank you very much for your visit and for your positive and complete review. It is true indeed that the Jewish legacy importance is such that Spanish history and culture up to the present day cannot be fully understood without it. Kind regards, Esther Sanchez Casa de Sefarad Manager

Brilliant Musuem, Fantsatic Staff and a real insight into Spanish Jewish History
Feb 2020
We came across Casa de Serafad after visiting the 12th centruy synagogue. The staff were so helpful and provided Engish guide sheets to help us navigate the exhibits. Completely fascinating history and stories, which was complimented by some anicent Serphardic singing by one of the currators. If you want to really understand a key part of Jewish and Spanish history this is the place to go.

Difficult for English speaking tourists.........
Feb 2020
Found this museum 'difficult' as a huge amount of the information on exhibits and written on scrolls (on the wall) was only in Spanish and although given 'books' with translations in English, we would have had to spend all-day there to read..........it's likely therefore that I missed some of the most important information about the Sephardic Jews time in Cordoba.............
All in all, I would recommend that non-Spanish language speakers give this museum a 'miss'.

Dear friend, thank very much for visiting us and leaving a review We don't really understand your review as English and Spanish speaking visitors have the same amount of information to read, although it is true that in one (over ten) of our galleries, there's no English info displayed on boards, as there's no room enough and the traslation is provided in separate sheets. Additionally, we have now a temporary exhibit (Medicine and Sefarad), that again is translated into English in a separated piece, but with the same information. We know there's a lot to read (and there's still a lot missing!) but this is a complex, vaste and controversial issue that cannot be explained with a short text or a quick visit. Kind regard Esther Sánchez Casa de Sefarad Manager

Very Interesting

A small, interesting museum that tells the rich history of the Sephardic Jews in Cordoba. The building is beautiful.

Dear friend, thank you very much for your visit and positive review. We are really proud of our beloved "casa" (house), a 14th C Jewish dwelling with many special corners, including above all the courtyard. Kind regards, Esther Sánchez Casa de Sefarad Manager

Melancholy is what you sense here. Good people murdered and exiled for their religious beliefs, The Gods forgot Cordoba for a few weeks.

A Good Museum
Oct 2019
This museum covers a whole range of aspects of Sefardi life and history-notable people, the inquisition, life and culture, medicine, food and so on.

As others have said, the museum is small but worth seeing. The staff gave us handouts in English which provided interesting background information.

One of Córdoba highlights
Oct 2019 • Solo
Visiting the Córdoba Synagogue nearby? Make sure you come here. The compact museum provides a full history of Jews living in Spain from the beginning, through each ruling empire and historic turn... successes, tragedies, people you’ve heard If. History wasn’t always kind, but the staff here are, and if you want to learn, visit the Casa de Sefarad.

Dear friend, thank you very much for your visit and kind words, specially in behalf of our staff. Two elements guides our work, passion and knowledge, because without both, it is not possible to properly understand such a complex and terrible story. Kind regards, Esther Sánchez Casa de Sefarad Manager
