I did not walk around the town but rather focussed on walking around the lake. Very relaxing amongst nice big trees, wind off the lake, and found a very nice restaurant to eat a Schnitzel. Very relaxing.

The atmosphere is delightfully romantic, the architecture outstandingly impressive, feel yourself transported into another century. Bring MONEY. You'll need it. (But it's worth it.)

Where it is marked on Google is a long way from where it actually is! Beware , use a non Google map or you will never find it

The town of Werden, which is now a suburb of Essen, is exceptional because very few old buildings survived anywhere else in the heavily industrialised (and bombed) Ruhr area but, compared to other ‘old towns’, it is nothing special. There are some nice half-timbered houses...More

Small but definitely worth seeing. Small pedestrian street , no traffic jams, cozy restaurants and bakeries. Place where you can relax and enjoy

We tried to visit this area but we couldn't. It was very difficult to find this. Either with GPS or not we drive around more than 30 minutes without success. Probably it was not a destination for night.

I went here when it was early sunday. it was so calm but still so beautiful. The best part was saying how well they take care of it. It so small but that makes it even more charming.

The Essen tourist office sent me down here as an example of where real people live in Essen. Real, but well-to-do! Werden is within the Essen city limits, but it's really a little village in itself, reached within 20 minutes on frequent streetcar or bus...More

We visited this city in a Sunday morning and all of shops and stores were closed but it was feeling that this city is calm and beautiful. Specially you can find beautiful lunges and particularly I suggest the Greek restaurant "Hügoloss".
