After the rebuild of the Dahliengarden , this place is no longer worth it to visit.
Half of the space half of the flowers, boring arrangements, just a vew places to sit, removing the small space pavilion- it looks very disappointing

The Dahlia Kingdom in Berlin-Altona
Oct 2020
In this garden, which is the habitat of a variety of dahlias, you can see for yourself the manifold beauty of these flowers. The area is actually not too large, but definitely recommendable for a few nice snapshots and a leisurely walk. The entrance is free.

If you are in Hamburg and you love flowers, Dahlias in particular, then visiting this garden is an absolute must! I was visiting a dear friend in Hamburg and she suggested we go to this Dahlias garden, in Altona Volkspark. Visitors can see the 15,000 square meters of gardens over 600 different types of dahlias with a total of over 11,000 individual plants. In different landscaped beds, visitors can marvel at the variety of dahlias. The paths in the garden consist of compacted gravel so persons in wheelchairs, using walkers.
The dahlia garden in Altona is Europe's oldest still existing dahlia garden. Already in 1920 the first dahlias were planted in the public park, at its current location exists of dahlia garden since 1932nd. Admission to the dahlia garden is free of charges.

If you are a flower lover and Dahlias in particular, then at stop at this garden is an absolute must! I was on the last day of my visit to see my daughter when she suggested we stop here. The garden is in Altona. The 15,000 square meter garden contains 800 species of Dahlias and more than 14,000 individual plants. There are benches and chairs throughout the garden to allow visitors to sit and reflect. There are flowers of every conceivable size, color, and shape. The paths in the garden consist of compacted gravel so persons in wheelchairs, using walkers, and those needing assistance walking should not have a problem negotiating the paths.

This garden is the oldest Dahlia garden in Europe. The first Dahlias were planted in 1920. This is a public park and there is no admission charge. There are no restroom facilities in the park. The garden is open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Do not miss this fabulous opportunity!

Hidden Gem: Beautiful Dahlia Garden in Hamburg
Aug 2014 • Friends
If you love dahlias, or curious about this flower, you must go to this garden when in Hamburg. The Dahlia Gardens (Dahliengarten - www.dahliengarten-hamburg.de) is the largest in Europe and most likely the oldest, having first opened in 1920. Every year during blooming season this garden is open to public with free admission. Hundreds of varieties. Even some locals do not know about this garden as it never advertises fearing to draw too much of a crowd. On a sunny day in August my friend and I visited during my one week stay in Hamburg and it was a memorable experience. I truly enjoyed it. There are benches and chairs spread out in the beautiful ground. This will be my must stop for my future visits to Hamburg.
