I'm not really into paintings and that is what you will mostly find here. We went because my wife wanted to see the Monet art inside. Even though I'm not big into paintings, I do have a great appreciation for all art and everything here...More

Several museums are currently being refurbished in Berlin yet charging full price of admission. This is a scandal and visitors should avoid them. This Museum is particularly famous for its collection of German romantic paintings of the 19th century yet the whole floor was closed!

Nice exhibits with beautiful works of art. Nothing special stood out but it was a nice museum and overall a pleasant experience.

One of the museums/art galleries on the Museuminsel in Berlin. If you are staying for a while get the 3 day Berliner Karte which includes entrance to all of the museums. Very good value as it offers free transport and many other reductions for things...More

The Altes Nationalgalerie is a grand columned structure raised on a huge plinth, rather like a temple to art. The collection focuses on 19th and early 20th Century German artists – Max Liebermann, Lovis Corinth, Karl Blechen and the like. Displayed conventionally, they show the...More

Had a great time here, they had plenty of french impressionists and also german art. There is plenty to see and the ticket for the whole island was very worth the price.

I love the Impressionists paintings, especially after visiting the Old and New museum and all the busts and statues, ect. Again, a lot of stairs in this museum, but totally worth seeing the Monets.

I found the Friedrichs curiously posterish and picture postcardy. Perhaps that is because they are so often reproduced; the Schinkels more interesting. The Menzels (a fave of mine) are wonderful, particularly Old Fritz playing the flute at Sans Souci and the casts on the artist's...More

The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights
like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum
Island. The central location makes this one of the
city's most expensive places to live. It is here the
oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence
of some significant transformations, as well. The
gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets
between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given

There is a small cafe with coffee/tea/cakes in the gift shop. There are plenty of great places to eat in the area. If you cross the bridge to the east toward the Hackescher Markt, there are a lot of cafes, restaurants and... More
