The area
Neighbourhood: Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
How to get there
  • Kurfürstendamm • 5 min walk
  • Zoologischer Garten • 5 min walk

Interesting place to walk up and down . We visited a few shops but didn’t buy much apart from a few odds and ends. Worth a visit and to grab a coffee

We enjoyed the walk and it was interesting to see all the luxury brand shops. We enjoyed the zoo and Gedächtniskirche at the other end of it.

It’s OK, not the best shopping street, doesn’t have the charm of shopping streets in other cities , However, the highlight for the kids was definitely the Lego store, this was really nice, and had a lot of cool exhibits and special types of Legos. The level of friendliness and good service in Berlin is quite below average. In some shops you can not enter with a away coffee cup.. I would say the best part of the street is where you can see the old church!

Nice, but not over the entire length. Moreover some roadworks ongoing, I have seen it more attractive. But excellent shopping place!

My favorite area in Berlin. After a few times visiting Berlin I know this is the best place to stay in a hotel. You have everything here - restaurants, cafes, shops, close transport, and safe to wonder at night.

We strolled through Kurfürstendamm during the last weekend before Christmas.

The street looked gorgeous with many Christmas decorations. You could have felt the Christmas spirit. Masses of people were hunting their last Christmas presents.

I really enjoyed the festive atmosphere.

I am absolutely in love with this part of Berlin! It has everything! Vibrant with a mix of people you won't see at many other places!
Very much to recommend: Currywurst 36, located in front of S&U Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten!
Must visit: the amazing Berlin Zoo!

Kurfürstendamm (or Ku’damm) is one of Berlin’s most famous park streets and an important shopping street.

Many of the most famous clothing designers have their shops along this street. You can also find many hotels, restaurants, and bars.

The Kurfürstendamm, usually referred as Ku’damm, is a must see for any tourist visiting Berlin and of course for everyone living in Berlin. The thoroughfare offers an exciting array of shops, restaurants and nightclubs. Along the length of the Ku’damm there is something for everyone. You can reach the Ku’damm by the U-Bahn at the Kurfürstendamm station or also near by the S- and U-Bahn station Zoologischer Garten. Problematic it becomes when you arrive with a car. It is very hectic to decide where to park. But that is a general thing in Berlin. During Christmas there is a market along the street and many fairy lights and christmas trees decorate the thoroughfare. Another advantage is that on the Ku’damm are all popular brands and many cafes and restaurants for relaxing and good eating. The famous Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) and the Berlin Zoo in this area underline the diverse atmosphere. The architecture of the street is a history lesson in itself with so many different styles visible there. Most of the 19th century buildings were damaged or destroyed during WWII. Ku'damm is a mix of restored and new construction. If I can give you some advice, go there and make your own experience.
