We Went for an early morning walk in the park on the high ground by the castle so approached it from the back. The exterior is elegant with a magnificent tower painted in trompe-l'oeil in 1500 and now restored. The interior is a real gem....More
An unopposing church on the outside, but well worth walking inside. Magnificent frescoes on the roof and ornate altars. The carved cherubs under the pulpit are also a feature. A bit of an uphill walk from the old town for those who are less mobile.
A hidden gem. Who would have thought a small town would have such a beautiful church. The interior divides some of the churches found in big cities. If you are in Fussen do not miss an opportunity to go in.
We attended Midnight Mass here on Christmas Eve. The church was in darkness when we entered and you could only make out minimal features of the church interior. As the service progress the church was progressively lit revealing its magnificent interior features. I would recomend...More
