This free tour was great. Call in the Town Hall (Rathaus) and you get a headset unit in your language for the accompanied tour of 30 minutes. Walk through the old prison and visit the cells, torture chamber etc. You wouldn’t want to be incarcerated...More

I lived in Germany, from 1980 through 1982. We were able to take this tour, and are so glad that we did! The city of Nuremberg is a beautiful, magical, historic city that is rich in traditions, and cultural events. It was such a contrast...More

This was a prison. It was interesting and the thought of how torture was given gave me the chills. Unfortunately a guided tour is only offerred with at least 5 people. Other drawback is that it is in german.

This was highly recommended to us by the locals and I love medieval history we were we pretty psyched to see this. The only problem is that they only run a tour if there are 5 people. You can't sign up for a time slot...More

We visited this attraction whilst holidaying in Nuremberg. It is a very interesting place, full of history and a little bit chilling when you imagine what it would have been like years ago. The only downside was that the tour was in German, so although...More

Great value, takes about an hour to do. Was so interesting! The tours are only offered in German, the guides do speak good English though so this is a little disappointing. There is an English guide leaflet provided though which says everything the guide is...More

The artifacts and preservation of the dungeon makes it very intriguing . For some people it can be hard to stomach the stories told by the guides of how the prisoners were tortured. One person in our party decided to opt out of listening about...More

Underneath the Rathaus, near the Castle, you can go and see the Old Dungeons. The rooms are very well preserved. It would be ideal if only small groups can visit at once the dungeons, because the space is quite small.

We walked in unexpectedly and managed to latch onto a last minute pre-arranged tour of the prison. Although the tour was primarily in German (this is not a complaint), we still found the prison to be an interesting enough building. We were provided with English...More

It was a prison (torture chamber) in medievil times. It does not contain any prisoners anymore. Tourists visit it to learn about a terrible history of in humane treatment. Located under old city hall in Nuremberg.
