Van Gogh's Sunflowers, works by Klimt make this well worth a visit, but we were a bit disappointed that the Impressionist galleries were closed for renovation.

After a morning across the road, at the Alte Pinakothek, we crossed over to see this magnificent collection of modern art. It is worth allowing a whole day to see these two galleries, which are some of the most impressive in the world.

Not a big museum, it takes about 1h/1h30 to see all rooms. Worth a visit if you love arts, several masterpieces and beautiful paintings. The shop has a good selection of postcards and books..

I can't pretend that I spent ages gazing at every painting. But this is such a superb gallery, you can go through and pick out what interests you - and it will still take a couple of hours. Somehow managed to start at the end...More

Lovely, open halls with a clear tour route; helpful staff; and a collection of different styles and eras of work from across Europe since 1800. A very fulfilling morning for one with no specialist knowledge at all.

Going to the New Pinacotheca after the Old one is pure sybaritism, but we could not stand the temptation. And did not regret even for a moment :)

Definitely worth a visit especially for art lovers. You‘ll find yourself mesmerized by the exquisite collection of paintings and sculptures. It‘s a favorite. Be sure to plan enough time to enjoy. The museum shop is great and the cafe/restaurant is quiet and has outdoor seating....More

Went on €1 Sunday, no crowds, extensive and varied collection, lots of German artists, easy to navigate. Benches in each room with books that have more extensive descriptions of the pieces in the collection. Highly recommend.
