Nice part of the Marienplatz experience. Old building makes for a nice atmosphere and the museums are interesting.

As a first time traveler to Munich I found this monument first and then let it be my central point to go back to, this was helpful in not loosing my bearings. Everything in Munich really does seem to lead back to Marienplatz and (if...More

Get their early as the crowds build up during the day. Walking around the area is easy. Take a hat and water.

Selfie sticks and one too many tourists clog the streets of Marienplatz. Get there early to avoid the crowds. It is a tourist madness but worth the visit to see the building. It makes one wonder how lovely the city must have been before WWII.

Really cool to see and they actually have a lot of really interesting things inside their Town Hall that I guess a lot of tourist bypass. Don't. You should stop and go inside see what they have to offer.

Munich is my favorite city in all of Germany. The old town has the feel that you expect when you visit Germany. The hustle & bustle of the thriving city, with its beer garden, restaurants & shops, make for a perfect day of sightseeing.

It is in Marienplatz which is a busy square with several other tourist attractions and a shopping area. There are cafes and restaurants including one in the Rathaus itself.
