This is the heart of the city - old town. There is a 'puppet' show in the middle BUT ONLY AT 11:00 and NOON as I was told. Well worth seeing! We went to the top of the church at the lower end of the...More

Marienplatz was a wonderful start to our Christmas Markets tour. Easily accessible from our hotel via UBahn which was very user friendly. The street food was delicious and the vendors had a variety of beautiful handcraft items to fit every budget and taste.

Definitely if in Munich you must get the lift in the Rathaus which brings you to the 9th floor, above the Glockenspiel. The views are amazing. Cost is a mere €3 per adult.

We enjoyed ourselves at the Christmas market, which is the central attraction during these times. Just remember that shops do not open on Sundays.

What is there to say about Marienplatz? It's the main city square in Munich. In the winter, it's packed with Christmas market stands, people drinking hot wine, and the smells of delcious goodies for sale. In the summer (so I've been told) it's packed with...More

Enjoyed seeing the old architecture sitting next to a modern building. It was cool to walk into churches that were built in the 1500s. You got a small taste of what life must have been a few centuries ago in Munich.
