Like most people, we came to Hohenschwangau to visit the castles, but our favorite part ended up being gorgeous lake Alpsee. We spent a lazy late afternoon dipping our toes in the water and watching the ducks and swans after a long day climbing up...More

The place offers an amazing view of the castle. In my opinion, in summer it is perfect to swim in the lake immersed in the mountains!!!

Absolutely blown away by the views. Cheap pedalo trips. The water is freezing though, be brave if you fancy a dip.

The lake and it's grassed shores are a beautiful and tranquil adjunct to the two nearby castles. If you have the time, it is a delightful place for a picnic. It's a place where nature and humankind have collaborated to create a special environment.

I know that this may sound hyperbolic, but Hohenschwangau may be the most beautiful place on Earth (I'm really torn between here and Bora Bora). All areas of the town can be very busy during the day, but once afternoon hits, it's usually very calm...More

This lake adds a great colour to the two castles and make the area even more romantic. It is so calm and clean in which it looks like a mirror to reflect the beautiful scenery there. For couples, don't miss the romantic walk!

We had a nice walk and relaxing time viewing the lake. My daughter had a fantastic time with the swans and ducks, feeding them grass and bread crumbs and running from them when they got too friendly. It was a great rest and break after...More
