Tourists do make a beeline for the castles. If you have time, walk towards the water where the Neuchwanstein shuttle bus drops you off. If you appreciate nature you won't be sorry.

The scenery is just magnificent. The alps surround this beautiful lake. You need to get at least your feet in the water. Probably just a good idea in the very hot summer.

Visited this area mainly to get the Neuschwanstein Castle - however this lake was a lovely surprise. Crystal clear water, swans, stunning views - an experience that shouldn't be missed if you're going to visit this area.

We stopped here for a small break but found it to be a very beautiful place. Like a hidden treasure we found it and it was well spending a couple of hours here. Totally relaxing and a stressnbuster.

Fantastic lake, clean water and warm in summer. I went a bit off the beaten track, not really using the Alpseebad itself, but going in from the other side of the lake. Whatever you wanna do, it's a good fit if you're coming back down...More

We came for the castle but ended up loving this lake and it's serene beauty. We paddle-boated, swam, and relaxed on shore soaking up the sun. It seems to be a spot most people don't make it to, but it's a gem and shouldn't be...More

We did the swan package today which included both castles and the museum all were good. You can't miss this lake. We arrived around 8:15 am (left Munich around 6:30am) and got to enjoy the wonderful peaceful morning views before the rush. I didn't notice...More
