My husband and I traveled to Germany to enjoy the Christmas markets and included Fussen in one of our stops. This museum down the hill from Neuschweinstein was enjoyable and very informative. They have lockers for storage of coats, etc. The handheld audio guides provided...More

My husband and I visited the museum on a solo trip exploring the life of King Ludwig II. I would consider this site as essential in understanding his place in the list of Bavarian royals, and also for learning a bit about the other members...More

This is about a one hour walk through tour with pictures and hand held audio explanations. Very interesting. We bought this tour with the two castle tour package online in advance.

I was tried but it was well worth it. To see the history always makes it better to enjoy. It was all done with headset audio. But neat to see.

This museum is on lake Alpsee below the Royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The permanent exhibition shows the history of the Wittlebach dynasty and other Bavarian kings.

This museum left me more rather than less confused about Bavarian history, as it presents too much complex genealogy. However it has some beautiful individual pieces in and, importantly this summer, it is AIR CONDITIONED! :) The loos here are in a much better state...More

If you have time between your visits to the castles, you can visit this smallish museum. Not that interesting, more a pleasant time killer while your wait for your timed entry to the castles.

We intended to visit this museum after visiting both castles (it was part of our collective ticket). However, when we entered they wouldn’t even allow me to take my very small purse in with me (while I can understand not allowing large backpacks into the...More

We went there in Sept and we popped in for an hour before our tours - say 10-11am and then went back there after from, say, 4-5pm. Just need to allow time to walk to the furthest castle. You can get a horse and cart but... More
