I wouldn’t say it’s less impressive than the Neuschwanstein castle but it is different and smaller. The garden is gorgeous and picture perfect. They have a little gift shop as well. Did not buy tickets to go inside but still enjoyed the view of the...More

The castle is pretty on the inside although be warned to are going to tour with a large group and they hustle you through. There are beautiful murals, furniture, jewels, etc. that you would expect to find at a castle.

It wasn't much more to go to both castles and we booked online well before our trip, so we added Hohenschwangau. Looking back, I wish we saved our time. It wasn't that impressive inside and the main attraction here is Neuschwanstein. Oh well, we can...More

Worth visiting if you have the time. Hike up, if you're able and get tickets ahead of time. Gives you a great history of the castles and King Ludwig before going over to Neuschwanstein.

We visited this castle same day as Neuschwanstein. The views of it, from, and of it from Neuschwanstein were beautiful! Although it was lovely, I probably would not have chosen it, had it not been for the fact it is in such close proximity to...More

We went to Schloss Hohenschwangau so that we could at least see one castles should we not be able to see Neuschwanstein Castle, which we were able to do with a combined ticket. The area around the castle is beautiful, and we both enjoyed the...More

Same goes for here as for Neuschwanstein unfortunately: it is a victim of it's own popularity and not worth going all the way there to stand in a line. It is much better to spend time elsewhere and take a photo from the road.

Yes, definitely! The walk up to the castle is nice & the small fountain garden is pretty too, but I wouldn’t skip the castle due to rain. We actually enjoyed this castle the most.
