A short 15 minute walk from the town center, the Richard Wagner Museum does an outstanding presentation showing and describing the the life, loves, and history of this great composer. One need not be a music buff to appreciate this. Museum is spread among three...More

This was an interesting though not desperately informative visit to Wagner's house in Bayreuth (paid for by Ludwig of Bavaria), and the modern Wagner Museum. I particularly enjoyed the photographs of all those who have conducted at the Bayreuth Festival, paralleling the photographs allegedly along...More

As far as composers' homes go this is a must see. There is so much there from all periods of Wagner's life and there are also costumes and instruments from earlier festivals in the new sub ground gallery. Clothes too worn by Richard and Cosima...More

The museum isn’t leveraging on its potential in terms of using interactive media. There are audio guides and VR but the technology isn’t up to the marks and much of it couldn’t be used. Good though about Wagner’s philosophy but on the other hand that...More

You can’t visit Bayreuth without paying homage to Wagner. A fascinating museum even if, like us, you are not fond of his music. The museum does not paper over his anti-Sémitism or the Nazi cult of Wagner.

The original home of the Wagner family plus a comprehensive museum of the works of the composer. Recommended.

It was interesting to see the reconstructed home of Wagner and to try and work out the complicated family tree of the composer. It was difficult to find our way around the new building.

Probably about 2 hours but you could easily be longer as it is totally fascinating! Make sure you stroll in the garden and it's lovely to go through to the park beyond. Have a great time!
