This giant wooden barrel can hold roughly 57-58 gallons of wines. Today i guess it seems much to be as a tourist attraction with everyone having to take picture infront or the dance floor build on top of the barrel itself. Nice to visit tho....More

Many walk in here and view the first keg with actually is small compared to the real one. I wouldn't plan my day on seeing this but if you go to the castle you should take it in.

This giant drum is a must see when you are in Heidelberg castle but according to me it is nothing I would be willing to travel for. In fact there are two richly decorated wooden barrels - the smaller one directly in the restaurant, the...More

It is really funny that as soon as you enter a room, you see an enormous barrel and a line of people waiting to take pictures in front of it, so you think that is the main attraction. As soon as you walk a bit...More

When you first walk in to the cellar where the barrel was you are staggered at its size. They have a smaller one nearby and the difference in size was amazing. Problem is, it isn’t the big one. Walk around the back of the ‘big’...More

Inside Heidelberg Castle are a pair of giant wine barrels used in the past to store wine at a time when it was used as a sort of currency. One is about 10,000 gallons... and that's the small one. The large one is about 120,000...More

An empty cask, except it's huge. Scaffolding around, so you can see it from all sides. A small exhibit on the walls. It's one of the fun exhibits within the castle and included in the entrance ticket.
