There is a free parking lot nearby and a bus stop so you can drive almost up to the ruins but I chose to hike from the down town, following Philosophenweg, then continuing on Oberer Philosophenweg and later following the signs pointing to the ruins....More

Time was well spent even it involved a bit walk and hike. Well maintained site. It was September and temperature dropped significantly in the late afternoon. Be prepared!!!

Small towers and ancient buildings are well-maintained allowing easy access to the monastic world of the past. This is well-worth the long trek up the mountain.

Walk all the way to the top of the mountain and this is your reward. Driving up there just seems wrong. You get a really good sense of why the mountain was considered holy from prehistoric times to the middle ages.
