I went with my 3 years old and he wasn't very happy as he had to walk a lot. The place is very nice and beautiful.

Castle is the landmark of Heidelberg, the ruins are one of the important structures dating back to 12th century. The castle has a large garden called Hortus Palatinus. You can have a complete look of downtown and the picturesque river valley. A cable car can...More

Interesting tourist place. For 5€ you can rent a self-guided audio tour. This is outdoors only. You do not go inside the castle on the self-guided tour. I highly recommend this option. For an additional 5€ you can take a guided tour of the inside...More

The castle was lovely and the view of the aldstadt was incredible, but I think I enjoyed the walk up more! The walk up (at least the way we went up) was lined with beautiful old houses that were landscaped beautifully. One had a gazebo...More

The cost is $7 whether you take the tram up or walk up. The walk is quite steep. The tram was about a 10-15 minute wait up. The wait was much longer on the way back. There are restaurants & snacks inside the castle area.

Unless injured, I would not take the tram, the walk up the stairs is not very taxing. The views of Heidelberg are spectacular and the castle is interesting. Make the effort to view the giant wine barrel it is a sight to behold.

This was a treat, an easy walk and well worth the amazing views of Heidelberg and the Rhine Valley. There are few things to see but the things that are there are amazing and interesting. This is a must do for any tourist of Heidelberg

You can go up and park. There is a parking place, but its really small. Or you can also park on the road side, before entering the Castle.
