Great views and nice restaurant
Sep 2021 • Friends
I took the funicular up to the top. It was a nice, smooth experience and great views and nice walks around the top. The facilities are great, with a decent sized restaurant, toilets and a few wooden sun loungers to relax on and swings for children. The views of the surrounding area were great and some people were paragliding. Good parking available too.

Lovely views worth a trip

Lovely ride up the hillside to the top of the mountain in the funicular. Great scenery all around and a nice cafe at the top. Worth a visit as part of your list of things to do in Baden Baden

Breathtaking views
Sep 2020 • Couples
The ride on the funicular railway is fabulous, the views from the top of Merkur are stunning, nice cafe at the top for a beer and snacks (or a meal). This is a Baden-Baden must do. Can't recommend highly enough. You can get the bus from town, or its about a half hour walk (very hilly on the way there, lovely walk back though!)

Crazy German Customer Service
Sep 2020 • Couples
We are from Belgium. Arrived to city as visitors.
On 20.09.2020 Walked 4km to this place- hot weather, thought nice to see the city from above. Arrived there, long waiting line.
Stood 30 minutes waiting then tried to buy tickets. Apparently from the 2 machines for buyinf tickets none accepts cards from outside Germany..and no Visa. We tried like 4 different cards..nothing. How crazy is that?!
Ok then we went to the cashier..there was a counter there with a guy inside who was accepting cash payments...( We had no cash), but I went to him asking for a sollution. I mean we are surely not the first ones from outside Germany there.
You know what the guy answered..
"I know and I can not help you, and I dont care, you need to go back to the city, and them come back if you want"..I am explaining him that I am pregnant, and it takes half a day to get down this moutain and back..he says "I DONT CARE! I dont want you to make a theater here...go back to the city and get the cash, and then come back...I dont have a sollution for you."
So... there are a lot of sollution you can offer people if you want (I say that as someone experienced in customer service), and of you dont want, you say "I have no sollution for you...go lay another 10km walk and then come back to me with cash of you want the ride ".
I will never ever ever recommend this attraction to anyone again because of this crazy German guy who can not work with people.

Mountain view
Aug 2020
One of the top sights of Baden-Baden is the panorama view from the top of the mountain right outside the city. To get to the cable car it’s a 20 minutes walk uphill from city centre. Try to pass through Wasserkunst Paradies to see a number of nice water fountains on your way.

You can walk to the top for free - or take the cable car for 6 euros

One very beautiful promenade
Jun 2020
Very nice and easy tour from Baden Baden city center , with bus and then mountain train. Possibility to come back through the blackforest. Think that at some moments more information about where to go could be helpful to reach back the city

Scary train
Jul 2020
It is not worth going there. 5 scary Minutes in a train will bring you on top of the mountain. Avoid when claustrophobic or having highfear
