Beautiful serene Lac Cornu in Charmonix France is a glacial fed Alpine lake in the French Alps region of Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. As beautiful as Lac Blanc with many Swiss peaks as a backdrop.

A little harder to get to than Lac Blanc but with views as impressive on both directions, meaning a panoramic view of the Mont Blan Massif and another of the Fiz Massif. On the plus side, none of the crowds and you can quite easily...More

We did this hike starting at the Le Flegere lift station walking to the Planpraz lift station. If you are coming from Chamonix then you can take a bus to Flegere or walk along the river for about 30 min. If you are staying in...More

2 years ago my brother and I ran the TMB, which was spectacular. This year we decided to stay in Chamonix and explore the area on day runs. We made our way up to Col Cornu and were blown away by the incredible views in...More

The lake is ok, it is the hike to get to it that is the star of the show. Really enjoyed our scrambling and high level hiking along the trails to get to this lake and Lac Noir.

The way going up there is hard but it's really worth it. A lot of climbing but with walker sticks, you won't have any problem.

Great views after a moderate hike from Le Brevente....would be easier when Le Flegere lift is operational. If you are lucky, you will encounter, sheep, chamois and marmots.

It looks close, but the climb down (and back up) to Lac Cornu is not easy! If you are fit, its definitely worth it! The lake is beautiful, and because most people stick to the views from up hill, its nice and quite down at...More

Do take the time if you are staying in Chamonix to do the walk from the town to Lac Cornu. We went on a beautiful sunny day in October and despite being freezing my son took a swim. It was well worth the 2 hour...More

We hiked from the Plan de Praz station (first leg of the lifts leading to Brévent). It is quite entertaining to see the paragliders take off from just above the lift station. The hike up to the lake is easy on a good path, but...More
