Orange is just off the motorway, so a stop to view the Triumphal Arch does not have to take a great deal of time. This was our first bit of Roman antiquity on our trip, and we were duly impressed.

The Arc de Triomphe is the second UNESCO site in the town. It was built on the former via Agrippa in the 20th year of a new era in honor of the victories of the second Legion of Caesar "Legio II Gallica". The scenes celebrating...More

This arch was built circa 14 AD It is older than the Roman arches in the Forum in Rome. To really appreciate this, as you look at it, imagine what 1st Century construction technology must have been. And the effort required to build this arch.

Ancient arch from the Roman time stands at the end of the boulevard and defies the ravages of time. Recommended also by night.

This looks amazing just out of town with lovely trees around. Extraordinary that it goes back to Roman times and has been so well preserved and renovated over the years.

This Roman Triumphal Arch is an absolute wonder. Still standing as it was almost 2000 years ago. Beautiful place to see when you visit Orange.

Good to see the Arch but it is away from all other sights in Orange and we walked there in the middle of the day.

This Arch is one of the highlights of Orange, and should not be missed. If you are on foot, it’s about 4-5 blocks north of the main shopping street, on a recently repaved and landscaped thoroughfare so you can’t miss it. There are also signs...More

My review title is misleading as the atriumphal Arch dates back to Roman times and its Paris equivalent is from the modern era. It is centrally located so probably within walking distance. Well worth a visit but you don’t need to allow very much time...More
