One can only imagine the interesting history of this place. Because there is no information there to bring it to life. It is easy to get to and worth doing for the 5 minutes it takes to say you have seen it.

Just pop through an arch at the harbour between two restaurants and you start on the upward journey. Travel up and you will find cross streets. The top of which has the local shops.

I am not disputing the historical significance of Rue Obscure and it is different but should not be a listed as an attraction.

It is a nice walk in Villefranche sur mer to see this old street and also the rest of the old town. Not far from the beaches.

We nearly missed the entrance to this. It is a passageway under the harbour front houses which dates back to the 13th century.

A dingy dark and dank passageway situated beneath the street level of the old town. Has an interesting history that dates back to medieval period but is not a must see in this part of town.

A hundred meters above the main drag by the harbor is la Rue Obscura. It was clean and seemed safe but not overly impressive.

Wonderful scene in the heart of Villefrance. Coming down from the church and the main road we stumbled across this interesting tunnel a great spot for some photos
