While the exterior of this tiny chapel is detailed and pretty, the interior has muted wall frescos depicting fishermen and the feeling is serene. The cost of $4 seems a bit high for a few murals, but knowing about Cocteau made it most interesting. He...More

The chapel is decorated inside with wonderful detailed drawings by Jean Cocteau. It was well worth the entrance charge and it was one of the highlights of our holiday in Nice.

We went to visit the chapel only to find that it is closed for one month so very disappointed. This information doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere and we only found out from the tourist information when we we arrived in Villefranche, this seems to...More

I had no idea that Cocteau loved Villefranche and its fishermen so much. His drawings of St. Peter, angels, fishermen, spanish dancers are incisive and so graceful that they practically dance off the walls. I only wish one could take photos inside...

History of the place dates back to the 1500.s Just seeing how things were built back then is a real education.

Convenient, quick and nice. Pay a couple of euros to view the artwork in this famous chapel, approx. 15 minute stay.

Tiny quayside chapel with absolutely amazing murals by Jean Cocteau. Do ignore the earlier review from the person who suggests you 'skip it' - they clearly have no appreciation of fine 20th century modern art

Cocteau had a lengthy association with Villefranche and his work on this tiny chapel with local fishermen is a fitting memorial. It is not large but the beauty of Cocteau's drawings, the cleanliness of his lines and the spirit and charm of the place add...More

This is a one room chapel that's more attractive from the outside than the inside. The cost is 3 Francs (about $4 per person) and it's really not worth the money since it's literally a 20x15 foot structure. The person at the door is incredibly...More
