The view over Villefranche-sur-Mer and Nice is great but we could not get into the castle. We took an uber to get to the castle and walked down back to Villefranche-sur-Mer. That turned out to be a good idea because the climb up would not...More

A superb medieval fortress located on Col du Villfranche, with a splendid view to Vifranche and the whole region; for nice walks and to visit the castle Mont Alban.

On a ridge separating Nice from Villefranche, the Fort is immense and in a stunning setting, so well worth the effort to get there

Interesting old castle that dominates the harbour front. Well worth a walk round, and there are cafe's and shops to quench your thirst and appetite.

While this was interesting, there was not really that much to see or do. The whole visit would take not more than around an hour and that is doing it very comfortably. If you are not a walker, Villefranche would not be recommended as there...More

I have been staying in Villefranche for over 25 years and we regularly take visitors up to the fort to see the spectacular views over Cap Ferat and Nice. Plenty of parking too and usually only one or two cars up there. However, last year...More
