For over 400 years, the Citadel rings the city. Element of the defence of the port the most important between Antibes and Toulon for centuries, it is now one of the few monuments of this magnitude of the Var coast. Proud of its rich maritime past, Saint-Tropez has decided to create a modern museum in the dungeon of the town's citadel, allowing all visitors to discover the daily lives of men and women who shaped over the centuries the Saint-Tropez of today.

We didn't go inside but we walked around the outside of the walls. This provided some great sea views and is a lovely thing to do in the evening!

I was especially struck by the museum... we looked at our backs to an old movie projected at the ceiling. You can feel how the sailors lived at their ship... also in a storm!

The Citadelle de Saint Tropez is definitely a "Must-See" at Saint Tropez. The area provides an almost 360° view across the city and the gulf of St. Tropez. The museum is just lovely and information is available in several languages! It is great, if you...More

The view on the gulf of St Tropez and Ste Maxime opposite are extraordinary. Better yet with binoculars. inside the fort visit the wonderful museum which traces the history of the port with various artifacts and videos. Very intereting and quite worth the 3€ fee.

This really interesting Museum details information about St. Tropez's history as a marine port, including some artefacts from old ships etc. The citadel is small but has been uniquely converted into a museum with a genius use of the space available. The grounds and view...More

It's important to mention that citadelle's working hours are untill 18:00 so plan accordingly. The view is ok, walls are nice but I cannot say anything about this experience was spectacular. Worth trying..

It's quite a climb up a series steps to the Citadelle but really worth it for the view alone. The museum is not big but it is interesting to learn about the birth of St Tropez. The views from the top of the tower itself...More

Hello, there is a path on the Citadel feet where you can have a lovely view to St. Tropez harbour. Even if the view from the Citadel is of course worth to see.
